A man was arrested Tuesday after allegedly threatening his brother with a gun and barricading himself inside a home with two young children, according to authorities.

At approximately 1 a.m., Alexander Uriel Valadez, 22, went to his brother’s home located in the 1300 block of Cherry Lane and got into an argument with his brother, authorities said.

Valadez allegedly pulled out a gun and threatened his brother, who left the home and called 911.

When deputies arrived, they attempted to contact Valadez, but he refused to communicate with them, according to authorities.

Valadez then barricaded himself inside a house trailer with his two younger brothers, ages 6 and 9.

A SWAT team and hostage negotiators responded to the scene. When negotiations stalled, SWAT officers entered the home because of the children’s ages, authorities said.

Valadez was taken into custody, and the two children were secured without injuries.

Valadez was charged with aggravated assault on a family member.
