Humidity, rain and thunderstorms return to southeast Texas this week. Rain is possible six out of the next nine days in Houston, including parts of the upcoming Halloween weekend.

We’ve had a string of dry weather with low humidity. That changes Tuesday as moisture moving in from northern Mexico will bring back our rain chances. Light rain is moving across the area into the early afternoon in Houston.

Our western and southwestern city have the highest chances to get showers. This pattern is with us Wednesday too.

Our next round of rain comes from the tropics. Rain associated with Tropical Storm Vance will move into the state of Texas Thursday through Saturday. If this moisture couples with a lifting mechanism, like a small low-pressure disturbance, we’ll get rain these two days.

If the timing is off between the tropical leftovers and the forcing into the sky, the rain will miss us. We’ll get you the hour-by-hour chances as we get closer to Halloween.

By the way, the high of 84° on Halloween is putting us near one of the warmest Halloween’s ever recorded. In 2004 we climbed to 88°. This year’s high reaches the mid-80s.

Early Sunday, November 1st, we turn our clocks back one hour. Don’t forget this! 2 am becomes 1 am and we seemingly get an extra hour of sleep. Below is how this affects sunrise and sunset.

We are a week away from potentially our next strong cold front. I don’t want to be too specific, since we are a week out, but here is what it looks like right now. Election Day Tuesday a cold front may move through southeast Texas. The timing will change but for now it looks like it moves through Tuesday morning. This will move temperatures back to the 50s and 70s and drop the humidity again. More details to come on this.

The humidity is back in full force Friday and will remain high through Monday. Election Day Tuesday’s front lowers morning temperatures back to the 50s with afternoons in the 70s. A northwesterly wind will dry out the air bringing a fantastic fall feel.
